感冒缘何而袭？

You wake up and your head feels like a watermelon. Your throat is sore and it hurts to swallow. You can’t breathe. Your nose is running. You have the common cold.
 
早上醒来的时候你感到头晕脑涨，喉咙很疼，吞咽都感到非常困难。呼吸也不那么顺畅，不停在流鼻涕，那么你一定是感冒了。

Why is it called the common cold? Because it happens so often, it is an ordinary part of our lives. Most people are sick with a cold or the flu at least once a year. You can always remember its name because most colds arrive with cold weather. That is because, during the winter, people stay inside more and breathe the same air, sharing their germs. School begins and groups of children touch the same objects, hold hands, or sneeze on each other. The germs in a sneeze can live for three hours while looking for a healthy person. No wonder colds are common!

为什么我们把感冒成为常见的着凉呢？因为这是一种经常发生的情况，在我们生活中很常见。大部分人一年至少要感冒或发烧一次。你也总是能记得它的名字，因为大部分感冒是伴随着冷空气而发生的。这是因为在冬天的时候，人们更多的呆在室内，呼吸着同样的空气，互相传染细菌。学校开学了，许多孩子们触摸着同样的物体，相互握手，或是当着别人的面打喷嚏。一个喷嚏中的细菌可以存活3小时，这些细菌就可以在这段时间寻找健康的人。因此，感冒那么常见就不奇怪了。

When you catch a cold, you have received a virus from someone else. Viruses live in the tiny little droplets that someone with a cold sneezes out. Most viruses enter the body from the hands. After you touch something dirty, like a doorknob, the microscopic (1) viruses are all over your hands. Then you rub your eyes or nose and the virus sneaks into your body. To stay healthy, wash your hands often and try not to touch your nose and eyes. Even very healthy people get sick easily once the cold virus gets into their body.

感冒是因为你感染了别人的病毒，感冒的人打出喷嚏，病毒就存活在其中的微小液滴中。大部分病毒是通过手进入身体的。你摸了一个脏东西，比如门把手之后，手上就沾满微小的病毒了。你再用这样的手揉眼睛或鼻子，病毒就潜入到你的身体里去了。为了保持健康，你要经常洗手，尽量不要用手揉眼睛和鼻子。一旦感冒病毒入侵身体，即使非常健康的人也会很容易生病的。
